This space is to announce when a player or staffer is working on a new mini grid / mini game and it's not yet complete but they'd like to let players know what they're working on, if they need help with some things, if they want to garner interest, track who wants to play what characters, etc.

It is also for games that are a little further along in the thought process than the Ideas page, but may not yet have started building.

Please feel free to add your own ideas for games you're still mulling over or still building.

Arrested Development

Soho and Rhapsody are planning on doing up a mini-grid based on the TV series Arrested Development. It should be lulzy and awesome.

Arrested Development focuses on a (formerly) wealthy and perpetually dysfunctional Southern California family as they struggle — or, more accurately, as middle brother Michael struggles — to save the family company… and generally keep from driving each other insane. Seriously guys. Watch this show. There are tons of great people involved. The writing is great. It is made of win. We are currently deliberating on where to set the show within the canon continuity.

Buffy/Angel

Still in the stages of discussion, this will probably involving porting over some of the characters from Angel City, and having a concurrent Sunnydale grid to match (So probably roughly alterna-S2 Angel, alterna-S5 Buffy). However, since we are still in the planning stages, timelines are subject to change and certainly open for discussion!

There is also the option of breaking these into two separate grids, so that an earlier point in the Buffy timeline could be done.

Update: There is now … a whole grid for Sunnydale done. Just need LA. But Buffy-RP could probably begin in the meantime.

The Lost Boys

This will be loosely based on the 1987 movie starring Kieffer Sutherland, Jason Patric and the Two Coreys. This will likely be a game where the players play hapless humans, not vampires, unless they really want to (I'm not opposed to it — Vanth). It will not likely have the main canon characters from the movie, unless I go for a timeframe prior to the movie, prior to Lucy, Sam and Michael Emerson moving in with Grandpa Emerson.

Stargate

There have been a few interested parties in the Stargate genre. Most are happy to work with the movie, SG1 or Atlantis — or all three. There are a few who favour SG1. If anything starts to put anything together, please note it here.

For those unfamiliar with Stargate, here's what wikipedia has to say about it:

Stargate productions center on the premise of a "Stargate", a ring-shaped alien device that creates a wormhole enabling personal teleportation to complementary devices located cosmic distances away. Under the control of the United States government, the Stargate discovered on Earth is kept a secret from the public. This allows storylines to present no contradiction between depicted events and reality, an effect compounded by setting Stargate in the present day, and depicting Earth accurately, with any unrealistic technology originating solely from alien civilizations. These extraterrestrial civilizations are however more often pre-industrial than scientifically advanced, and are almost invariably human. Together, this allows for stories predominated by human interaction in Earth-like environments, an unusual feature for a science fiction franchise.

In the story, this is explained as being the result of alien interference in Earth's distant past - the concept influenced by the theories of Erich von Däniken. Many ancient mythologies are shown to be the result of aliens who had visited Earth posing as gods by using their technology to give the impression of deific power. X-Men

Well, since I've had quite a few nibbles about this, and could probably borrow some of the old XMR grid, I thought I might start working on part of the X-verse. Would people prefer all of Marvel or just X-Men?

In the spirit of Nexus' "free spirit" setting, I'd say Marvel (though I do, personally, have a preference for X-Men).

+ Show Typical Classic Romero Zombies

Typical Classic Romero Zombies: These are the typical slow moving zombies who you can generally outrun as long as you have a clear way out of the area, go down if the brain or brainstem is destroyed, likely created by toxic waste seeping into graves, to start with, and who, once they catch you, will overwhelm and eat you pretty quickly, usually by tearing you to shreds while you watch in horror. (Yummy!)

Shaun of the Dead Zombies: These are rather similar to Romero zombies, but bashing them in the head also works wonders. They also seem to be even more dumb than Romero zombies, easily fooled by humans acting as zombies to give them the slip. Origins are generally unknown unless you believe the rubbish about rage infected monkeys.

+ Show Dawn of the Dead (2004) Zombies

Dawn of the Dead (2004) Zombies: These are a more modernized version of Romero's zombies and perhaps far more terrifying after Zack Snyder gets his hands on Romero's old screenplay. They are equally as hungry as their slow-moving, nuclear waste byproduct cousins, but they are far speedier and ten times more vicious. They're less content with ripping you to shreds as they are just chowing down on you while you're still whole so that you're left to beg a fleeing comrade to shoot and kill you, putting yourself out of your misery. Once bitten by one of these zombies, the infection will swiftly spread through the body until you finally expire, only to reawaken mere moments later with a lust for human flesh and no semblance of your former, human self.

+ Show 28 Days/Weeks Later Zombies

28 Days/Weeks Later Zombies: There is some argument as to whether or not these classify as zombies. If you don't believe they are, don't play with them. Simple. ;) But for those who feel that these two movies classify as zombie movies, feel free to snag these rage-infected, insanely fast, flesh-eating fiends for your RP. They're fast. They're loud. If one spots you, so will the rest and you will be swarmed if you don't get your ass out of Dodge asap. And remember, all it takes is getting a drop of their blood in contact with any of your own bodily fluids or mucous membranes (i.e. a paper cut, an eye, up the nose, etc.) for you to turn into one of them within seconds — and there is no turning back.

+ Show Left 4 Dead Zombies

Left 4 Dead Zombies: It's uncertain how the infection spreads since bites don't seem to do it. You can easily be attacked and bitten, then patched up with some decent first aid and keep on ticking. Perhaps the original infection's contagious time has passed. Perhaps the infection only kicks in once the body has expired. No one really knows.These zombies are numerous, fast and deadly, but there are also several types:

• Boomers: These are rather large, obese zombies who are deceptively fast for their size. Don't let one vomit on you! The others are attracted to its bile and will swarm you within seconds; you will also be momentarily blinded. Knock it away from you, put some distance between you and it, then blow it apart with a few well-placed bullets. Be sure to stand back because when they explode, the effect is the same as if it threw up on you!

• Hunter: Agile and extremely quick, these guys are known to leap at great heights and lengths to pounce on their prey without much warning than a shrill shriek.

• Smoker: These infected have insanely long tongues which can ensnare victims at great lengths and pull them to the Smoker. When destroyed, they release a smoke cloud which induces coughing and obstructs visibility.

• Witch: These are lone infected who generally huddle in darkened corners, crying to themselves and rocking as though under great duress. Don't spook her! If startled, she proves to be a formidable foe, launching herself at the provoking target and lashing out viciously with elongated, sharpened talon-like fingers. She is particularly tough to take down and will kill her provoker unless others take her out. The victim will need serious medical aid if the Witch manages to get a few good shots in.

• Tank: These things are massive, muscular creatures that take an entire group to take down. You will likely need a group of four emptying all clips into it and maybe even explosives to take him down. Handguns are generally useless against it.

• The Generally Infected: The general infected masses are generally fast and vicious but over-all pretty stupid. They are easily attracted to noise and are generally not afraid of fire, though it will kill them. As a general rule, these ones are fairly easy to kill with enough bodily damage (especially the head or heart), but be careful that they truly are dead or you may have an ankle bitten off as you step over one.

Resident Evil Zombies: The consequence of the T-virus escaping quarantine are relatively slow-moving (faster than Romero zombies, a bit slower than 28 Days/Weeks Later zombies), blood-thirsty zombies, inside-out zombie dogs and sometimes crazed zombie mutants out to kill you. The T-virus appears to kill the body fairly swiftly and moments after death, the body reanimates. The zombie mutants are fewer and far between with only a handful of prototypes of varying shapes and sizes, most of which are superhuman in strength and ultimately lethal if you don't have some decent firepower on your side.

The city grid is coming along slowly but surely. There are also going to be two other grids: post-apocalyptic Mojave Desert/L.A. (a la Resident Evil 3) and an isolated outpost in Alaska.
