So what do you do if you want to start a game?
Build a new space (just ask Rhapsody or Vanth to open a space for you to start building from), grab an existing space or take up a multipurpose room and go nuts. It's that easy.
Want to run a 'what if' based on another game you play on? Really into a particular tv show, movie or book and want to RP in that setting or with those characters? Want to just do a 'just for giggles' type of random scene? Go for it. That's what this space is for.
Does the theme already exist here? You like Harry Potter, for example, but the storyline here is going away from something you want to play or you'd like to take it in a direction that won't damage the current storyline? Start up a secondary story. Just be sure if you decide to make it on-going that when we have the wiki up, that you add a secondary HP section about your own take on it.
Looking for people who might be interested in playing? Put up a post on +bb 4 (Theme Pitches) to see if anyone's interested. It's really that simple.
Update: The biggest 'no-no' when creating a new space is recreating a game that has already existed (another MU*), whether it still exists or not, and it never belonged to you. Essentially, if you do this, it is akin to stealing someone else's intellectual property, so please don't.
To Zone or Not to Zone
Some of you may want just to build a grid to run a game and to hell with additional code. This is fine, of course! If this is the case, it's so easy to just dig a space for you, give you the @quota and let you go at it.
But you may decide you want a localized +help command, +news system, +roster list, @ic/@ooc capabilities, etc. You may also want multiple builders to be able to work on the grid together without a single builder character. This can all be accommodated and set up with zone objects. These are mini master rooms, of sorts, that will hold code objects in them that will work in any room which has its zone set to that zone room.
Example:
The Zombie grid rooms are zoned to the Zombie Master Zone room. All code kept in the Zombie Master Zone room, such as +zhelp, will work in that room now because it is zoned to that room.
If this sounds like something you want, just be sure to let us know that you want a Master Zone room set up for your game and the names of all your builders. We will automatically set up the Master Zone room, a +zone/here command so you can easily change the zone in each room you set up, a +news system, a +roster system and @ic/@ooc commands as well as a local +help object.
